This new year brings many opportunities within our school community, including our year 7’s take the first step into their new high school journey, and our year 9’s advancing into the senior Cooroy campus. Students have their first opportunity to showcase their school spirit with our interhouse swimming carnival on Friday of week 2. Can’t wait to see you all there.
Additionally, year 12 has begun to make the most of our final year of schooling, attending a focus day on Tuesday of week 1, where we participated in team building activities and inter-homeroom competitions. This was followed by motivating speeches from Ms Wilmore and Mr Quinn, and a seminar by ‘adolescentoligists’ Michael and Luke, from PEERPOWER.
Year 11 is well underway with their journey through senior schooling, as they begin their chosen subjects for the year. Students have received new timetables, with break and class times now coinciding with the Pomona campus. With student council meetings beginning in week 3, we as leaders look forward to the opportunity to fulfill our responsibilities within the school, as well as in the community through interact and Rotary programs. All leaders from every year are welcome to attend to voice their opinions and provide ideas on improvements and activities within the school.
This week year 7 student leadership nominations were also opened for students wanting to develop their leadership skills throughout their whole high school journey. These will be announced in week 4 this term, when all year 7 to 12 leaders will attend a leadership development day.
This year my main goal as School Captain is to increase school spirit and involvement in inter school activities including sports days, free dress days and fundraisers, as well as cultural events such as our amazing musical, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’
From the Student Council, we hope you have enjoyed your first two weeks of this exciting new year, and we look forward to continuing to support and represent you throughout 2025.
