Dear Parents, students and community
What a great start we have had to term 2 in what has already been abuzz with activity both inside and outside our classrooms. Over the past two weeks we have continued to celebrate being back and getting into the learning that will support the success of every student at NDSHS.
Anzac Day
Last week, our students paid their respects as part of our Anzac Commemoration parades at each campus that were of the highest standard and supported by local RSL members. Our student leaders and a large body of students and staff also represented our school and local community at Tewantin, Eumundi and Cooroy services. Thank you to our community members who made these important services happen as we all reflect and thank those who have served.
Football Champions
Congratulations to our boys football team who won the grand final of the Sunshine Coast Open football competition defeating St Johns, and to our girls football team who made the semi-final at Maroochydore soccer club last Wednesday. After what has been an impressive and engaging season, our players did themselves, our school and community proud progressing to the finals and playing with the highest standard of teamwork, skill and resilience to take out the win. It has been wonderful to the support from all spectators, staff and families at the matches. Special thanks to Mr Meredith and Mr Zaslavsky Broklebank for coaching and well done to our players on both teams for these incredible performances.
Teaching and Learning
Following pleasing progress in our improvement agenda last term, we remain focussed on increasing A/B results across the school (currently on track at over 50%), and maximinsing student success through active engagement. Our students have produced some outstanding results in Term 1 and we look forward to these continuing in Term 2.
This week, students will receive their individual Track-Ed student profile that supports their progress reflection, planning for excellence and continued academic success. Every student should know how they are going and what they need to do to improve.
We use these 5 Questions to focus learning conversations for students:
I encourage all parents to attend the Parent Teacher interviews scheduled for Tuesday of week 4 (13th May) which will be held for Years 7-12 at Cooroy Campus. More details will be out this week – please get in early to book your sessions with all teachers. Together we support the success for every student to realise their potential.
Uniform – Student Dress Code
A high standard of uniform is important to reflect a sense of pride in self, school and our community and I would like to thank every parent and student for your support this each and every day.
All students are expected to be in full school uniform as per the Student Dress Code every day without exception. This will include school jumpers. The only acceptable option is the school uniform jacket/jumper that can be purchased from the uniform shop. Please make arrangements for purchase or contact the school if you require support.
The wearing of the Noosa High uniform has become a symbol of success in our community and something all students should be proud of, as it stands for everything that is good about the qualities of our students and our wonderful school community. We have had a great commitment from our school community to our revised dress code this year and this has made a positive difference to our school.
Facilities Upgrades – Cooroy Campus Hall Toilets
We are dedicated to providing top-notch facilities for our students, and we are thrilled to announce the completion of the first bathroom upgrades at Cooroy Campus. This project was prioritized based on student feedback and strongly supported by the 2024 Captains Club student leadership team.
The Hall bathrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment, including the replacement of all cubicles and flooring, to enhance privacy and modernize the facility for our students. The upgraded bathrooms reopened this week.
We look forward to continuing our facilities enhancements at both campuses throughout the year

Junior Secondary Campus Context …
A Focus on Quality Teaching and Learning…
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope your Easter break was filled with rest and rejuvenation, and that you’re ready for a term packed with growth, achievement, and inspiration. Our vibrant Junior Secondary campus is already buzzing with energy as students settle smoothly back into the rhythm of school life.
As part of our commitment to excellence, students will soon engage in our Planning for Excellence program during their Flying lessons. This reflective process empowers students to identify their strengths, pinpoint areas for improvement, and set personal learning goals - critical skills for lifelong learning and future success.
We invite all parents and carers to be part of this learning journey by attending the upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 13th May. This is a valuable opportunity to support your child in their academic goals. Please refer to the latest Schoolzine email to book appointments through PTOnline.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated educators are driving our 2025 Explicit Improvement Agenda forward, using student data to refine and elevate teaching strategies. It’s this data-informed, student-centered approach, that sets our Pomona campus apart - a place where high-quality learning is not just a goal, but a daily experience.
Junior Secondary Campus’ FLYING Philosophy…
Our campus is more than just a place to learn - it’s a place where students are encouraged to soar. Through our weekly FLYING program, we continue to cultivate a culture that’s uniquely ours, steeped in the values of respect, responsibility, and active learning.
A highlight of this program is our Pomona rewards token system, which recognises and celebrates students for academic excellence, positive behaviour, and strong attendance. Each token is a symbol of achievement, entered into our fortnightly prize draw in the library - building a sense of excitement and community.
Regular attendance remains a cornerstone of our philosophy. Every day at school opens doorsto knowledge, to friendships, and to the future. Research backs it, and we see it firsthand - students who attend regularly thrive. If you need support around attendance, our Heads of Year and Student Support Team are here to help. Let’s work together to ensure every student takes flight.
What’s been happening at the Junior Secondary Campus…
On Thursday 24th April, our students and staff came together for a moving ANZAC Ceremony. We’re incredibly proud of the student leaders who guided the event with poise, and of the entire student body for their respectful and thoughtful participation. The ANZAC spirit remains a strong and meaningful part of our community.
Looking ahead, excitement is building for the Pomona campus cross country competition on Friday 8th May. This is always a spirited event that brings out the best in our students - whether they’re chasing a personal best, cheering on their house, or simply enjoying the day with friends.
Don’t miss our Junior Secondary Showcase on Tuesday 27th May - a standout event that offers families a glimpse into the incredible work happening every day on campus. From classroom projects to co-curricular highlights, it’s a celebration of everything that makes Pomona unique. More details coming soon!
And finally, later this term, our commitment to social responsibility shines through at our Sleep Rough fundraiser on Friday 13th June, hosted at our Belli Park Mimburi campus. This important event reminds us all of the power of empathy, community, and action.

Parent Teacher Interviews
On Tuesday 13th May (week 4) the Semester 1 Parent Teacher Interviews will take place at Cooroy Campus. All families will receive an email with the booking link this week. It is a great opportunity for all students and their families to receive individual feedback on how they are travelling in each of their subjects.
This year, the students will lead the meetings. In week 3, students will receive via email their Performance profile with their term 1 results. They will have time in class to complete a Reflection Tool Worksheet which they will bring to the interview to present to you and their teacher. This will be the opportunity to talk through the results and provide ways to see success in term 2.

Year 10 Report
Welcome back to Term 2 Year 10s and families! I hope you had a wonderful and restful Easter break. The Year 10s have made an excellent start to the term - it has been fantastic to return to school and see so many smiling faces and productive classrooms. Term 2 is a chance for students to really start setting some goals regarding their senior schooling pathways. In Term 3, formal SET planning processes will begin, and students will make some decisions about their next step, whether that be an academic pathway with a view to University study, a school based traineeship or apprenticeship, or the procurement of part-time or full-time work. Whatever decision they make, you can rest assured that Noosa High will be there every step of the way in supporting our young people.
Currently, our Year 10s are in the process of submitting their applications for work experience. A big thank you to all students and families who have already returned their completed work experience forms ready for week 10 of this term. As we continue the term, please ensure your student is enquiring and submitting their work experience form. A big thanks to Tara Blair, our Vocational Education Officer for her continued hard work in leading the work experience program. In week 9 of this term, Year 10 students will be invited to participate in the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness Program (RYDA). This is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain experience as they start their journey in gaining their driver’s licence. Please check emails and junk folders as a digital permission form has been sent out this week. This excursion is covered by Road Safety Education and as a result will not be costed to families.
As we head towards the colder months, students and parents are reminded of our school dress code – students must wear a school jumper. Undershirts, and non-school jumpers, hoodies and jackets will be required to be removed if seen and kept in T11 for collection at 2:45. Our school uniform shop has plenty of school jumpers and trousers for sale to keep warm in the colder months. Items can be ordered online or bought directly from the uniform shop during operating hours. As Monday is our new formal uniform day, please ensure your student is wearing the formal uniform every Monday. Congratulations to our students on a great start to the Term, keep up the good work!

Year 9 Report
Year 9 students have returned from the holidays energised and eager to learn. After receiving their term 1 grades, they've been reflecting on their goals for the upcoming term. We're optimistic that they'll continue to engage positively with their studies and school life, striving for progress.
A few reminders to ensure students are prepared for classes:
- Phones are not allowed in classrooms. Students must bring a charged device (not a phone) for lessons, along with books, pens, pencils, and other required materials daily.
- Bring a water bottle to refill and keep in class.
- Use the bathroom during breaks to minimize disruptions during lessons. Establishing routines now prepares students for future workplaces.
- Uniform standards remain high, but with colder weather approaching, full school uniform is mandatory—no hoodies or non-uniform jumpers are permitted.
Contact me with any uniform-related questions.
It's been a pleasure getting to know many Year 9 students last term, and I'm looking forward to meeting more as the year progresses.

Junior Secondary Campus Coordinator Report
Welcome to Term 2!
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed for the busy and exciting term ahead — I know I certainly am!
Before we get too far into the term, I’d like to introduce myself as your child’s Year Level Coordinator. While I’m new to Noosa District, I’ve been teaching for several years — although never in such a stunning, leafy setting! I’m really looking forward to getting to know all our students and supporting them as they continue their journey through junior secondary.
With our short three-day week to start, we’ve eased back into routines while also taking time to reflect on a very important occasion: ANZAC Day. This day holds a special place in our school calendar as we come together to honour and remember those who have served our country. Our ANZAC service was a truly moving event, and I’d like to acknowledge Tyree, Pippa, and Remaiah for their outstanding speeches. Their words showed real maturity and respect, perfectly capturing the spirit of remembrance.
Looking ahead, I’ll be encouraging students to stay on top of uniform expectations — especially wearing white shirts on Mondays (except if it is a public holiday on the Monday and then it is Tuesday)— and to continue turning up every day, ready to give their best. Building the habit of showing up, even on the tough days, sets students up for success both in school and beyond.
I’m excited for the term ahead and all the opportunities it will bring!

Noosa District SHS shines at Sunshine Coast Schools Football finals.
Both Noosa District SHS open boys and girls team found success at the Sunshine Coast Schools Football finals. After the finals were moved into term 2, due to the washout last couple of weeks in term 1, both teams were in for a massive task of potentially playing three games in one afternoon and evening to become champs. Both teams started well with the girls defeating Unity College 4 – 0 and the boys defeating Nambour SC 2 – 0 in the quarter finals. Unfortunately, the girls couldn’t repeat this success and were defeated by Flinders 5 – 1 who are an absolute Sunshine Coast Open girls football heavyweight, but their coach – Mr Zaslavsky was impressed with their efforts in this semi-final. However, the boys team continued their winning ways by defeating Unity College in a penalty shoot-out. Our boys were behind by two goals early in the game, but fought back to be 2 all at the final whistle. The five boys selected for the penalty shoot-out showed immense composure by slotting all 5 penalties to win the shoot-out 5 – 4 in an unbelievably tense atmosphere.
The grand final was going to be tough encounter against St Johns, as this was our boys third game in 4 hours, whereas the opposition has played one less match in this finals evening. To add to the narrative, the round game was a 1 all draw when they last met in term 1. Ironically, the rain arrived for the grand final, but this didn’t reduce the quality of football or the supporter’s passion off the field throughout the tight game. The Noosa boys slotted a goal to lead by one at half time, thanks to the accurate positioning and striking from George E. In the second half, St Johns certainly tried everything, but the tenacity of the Noosa boys’ defence rose to the fore in an exciting last 10 minutes, with Noosa celebrating a stellar and deserved championship victory as the final whistle sounded.
The many parents, teacher and friends in attendance were very proud of the efforts from the Noosa District boys, but none more so than their coach Mr Meredith. The super coach couldn’t award a player of the match as he simply stated, “they all deserved this win after an amazing, undefeated season”.
Congratulations to both open football teams for making the finals, especially the boy’s team who are now the Sunshine Coast Open Boys Champions.

With the start of term 2 kicking off, we get ready for the term ahead, and all the opportunities that await us. This week, we saw our student compete for house points in the 2025 cross country around the school. As students run, walk, and jog together, they compete for points to help lead their houses to victory.
In the previous week, Noosa district held the ANZAC day ceremony. As we commemorated the fallen troops who laid their life for our country, we joined together in their memory. This important event reminds us of the hardship and loss of so many families, and why it is so significant for us to honour them for their sacrifice.
Furthermore, as winter approaches, we prepare for sleep rough, where students will experience a night ‘sleeping rough’ to spread awareness of those in less fortunate conditions. Additionally, all profits from this event is donated to buy backpack beds for the homeless, giving them the opportunity of protection from a shelter. Commencing on Friday, the 13th of June, we encourage everyone to sign their notes and start fundraising! Moreover, during the day will be ‘winter woollies’, so remember to snuggle up and bring a gold coin donation.
After a long renovation process, our hall bathrooms are to open up. This renovation brings new life to the hall facilities and will benefit members of the school community as well as those visiting our school for our upcoming events, such as our fast-approaching musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, in term 3!
In more recent news, on Tuesday, the 13th of May, Noosa District’s parent-teacher evening will be hosted from 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm at the Cooroy campus. We encourage parents to come along to discuss and explore ways to support your child’s learning journey and their success!
As we look ahead, we are excited for all the events and activities that the rest of 2025 has in store. We encourage each of you to stay engaged, continue to show your school spirit, and make the most of every moment. On behalf of the Student Council, we want to wish you all an incredible rest of the term.

Read MoreThe Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) has for 20 years been providing Cheer and Dance events around Australia, aimed at empowering athletes to partake in this all-inclusive sport, regardless of age, gender, sexual preference, or size.
We now have an amazing opportunity to deliver Dance workshops to dancers aged 16 years and older, presented by the NFL LA Rams Cheerleaders, creating an elite athlete pathway to professional performance sport in the United States.
Our aim is to provide this opportunity to all aspiring dancers across the country.
This is an exceptional opportunity for Australian dancers given the recent announcement that the NFL will be expanding their locations outside of the USA by bringing teams to Australia to play an in-season game, the LA Rams being one of those teams.
