What a wonderful start our students have made to Term 4 at both campuses in what is set to be another successful and final term for our entire school community. I have been particularly impressed with the optimism, positivity and genuine excitement our students and staff have for the term ahead; and some outstanding Term 3 student results gives me great inspiration for the success that continues to thrive here at Noosa – no matter what. There is so much to look forward to this term.
At the end of last term, our graduating class of 2025 celebrated their formal. This is a significant event for our students, their families and our school community and a testament to the incredible calibre of our young men and women of Noosa High. I want to thank all staff who made this happen and everyone who came along to celebrate our students who had an amazing evening. Soon, these students will have their final day of classes at Noosa High and following final exams, we will celebrate their graduation. I wish every student every success in their final exams and couldn’t be prouder of what these students have achieved.

Junior Secondary Campus Context …
A Focus on Quality Teaching and Learning…
As we enter the final term of the year, our focus sharpens on finishing strong—not just academically, but in attitude, effort, and behaviour. Success isn’t only measured by grades; it’s built on commitment, resilience, and the choices we make every day. At our Junior Secondary Campus, we champion the values of Respect, Responsibility, and Active Learning, qualities that shape not only great students but future-ready citizens.
These values are more than school rules. They are life skills. Employers, universities, and communities seek individuals who collaborate, contribute, and show initiative. While knowledge and skills can be taught, the mindset to grow, work with others, and lead with integrity must be nurtured intentionally. Let’s help our students build these habits now.
For our Year 8 students, Term 4 is a pivotal time as they prepare to transition to our Cooroy campus. Teachers are working closely to create the best class groupings for Year 9, using Semester 2 reports to guide decisions. This is a great opportunity for students to reflect on their Term 3 journey, celebrate wins, identify growth areas, and set clear goals for the term ahead. We encourage families to sit down together and create a few achievable goals that students can commit to. TrackED profiles will soon be available, offering insights into academic progress. Parents and carers are welcome to reach out to teachers via email (available on our website) to discuss strategies for improvement. Together, we can ensure every student finishes the year with pride and purpose.
Junior Secondary Campus’ FLYING Philosophy…
Our Junior Secondary Campus is more than just a place to learn. It’s a vibrant, purpose-built environment where our FLYING philosophy comes to life every day. Through engaging curriculum and dynamic teaching, we empower students to soar by being Respectful, Responsible, and Active Learners.
Being respectful means listening, collaborating, and treating everyone with kindness. Responsibility is about owning your actions, making safe choices, and standing up for what’s right—even when it’s hard. Being an active learner means showing up with curiosity, asking questions, and making the most of every lesson.
Our campus is a stunning space designed for junior learners, with dedicated facilities and beautiful grounds that support both learning and play. We’re proud to see so many students living our values daily, and we’ll continue to celebrate those who lead by example.
Junior Secondary Campus Community Events…
Term 4 is packed with exciting events that showcase the spirit and talent of our campus. One of the highlights is our Celebration of Excellence Night, a prestigious event that honours students who have excelled in Academics, Culture, Sport, and Citizenship. We can’t wait to see our Pomona students shine on stage.
Last week, our Arts Academy students visited the Mimburi Campus for a creative immersion day. They explored ways to transform the local environment into art and planned drama performances. Joining them were Year 6 students from Pomona State School, who got a taste of life as an Arts Academy student to help them make informed choices as they prepare for Year 7 in 2026.
Our incredible teachers continue to offer a wide range of lunchtime clubs and activities, advertised through daily notices and weekly parades. These opportunities help students build friendships, discover new interests, and develop valuable skills. One standout event is our Grade of Origin touch football series, where Year 7 and Year 8 students compete for the coveted shield—an exciting way to build camaraderie and school spirit.
Thank you to our families for your ongoing support. Together, we’re building a campus where students thrive, values are lived, and learning is an adventure.
Kind regards,
Josh Cleary
Head of Campus
Uniform Update – Term 4 Reminder
Pride in Presentation at Noosa District SHS
At Noosa District State High School, we continue to uphold high standards in student presentation. Our uniform is a symbol of unity, respect, and school pride—values that are deeply embedded in our culture.

Thank you for your continued support in maintaining our uniform expectations and fostering a sense of pride and belonging across our school community.
QParents Update – Consent Manager Trial Continues
Enhancing Communication and Permissions
Our Semester 2 trial of the Consent Manager feature in QParents is ongoing, as part of our commitment to streamlining communication and permission processes.
This digital tool enables parents and carers to provide consent for school activities—such as excursions, media releases, and curriculum events—directly through the QParents app.
We’ve seen strong uptake, particularly for recent events like interschool sport. Thank you to all families who have embraced this new platform.
As we move into Term 4, we encourage families to:
- Ensure their QParents account is active
- Turn on notifications to stay informed and respond promptly to upcoming permissions
If you need assistance with accessing or setting up your QParents account, please contact the school office. We appreciate your partnership as we continue to trial this system designed to support families and enhance school-home communication.
Kind regards
We encourage all families to register for QParents, a secure and convenient online platform that provides easy access to your child’s school information at Noosa District SHS.
QParents allows you to stay connected with our school and manage key aspects of your child’s education from your computer or mobile device. The web and mobile app offers a simple and efficient way to interact with the school.
Once registered, parents and carers can access:
- Attendance and absence records, with the ability to notify the school of absences

Year 11 Report
Welcome back to Term 4 class of 2026 and families. I hope you had a great September holidays and made the most of the beautiful weather on offer. Term 4 is shaping up well for our current Year 11 and soon-to-be Year 12 cohort, and there is much to celebrate and look forward to.
Our Executive Student Leaders were confirmed last week in special meetings that took place on Thursday afternoon with Ms Wilmore, Mrs Greenhalgh and myself. It is with great pleasure that we can now announce our 2026 Student Executive Leadership Team to the community. It was a privilege to be part of such an inspirational process as we shortlisted, interviewed and listened to speeches from some outstanding young people who are keen to lead the school into the future. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a special group of student leaders:
- School Captains – Oliver Haxton and Emily Nelson
- Vice-Captains – Madelyn Macqueen and Riley Sheather
- Interact President – Lucy McDonagh
- Interact VP – Blaze Ryan
- Student Council President – Romy Mandak
- Student Council VP – Matilda Smith
- Sports Captains – Elijah Cox and Zahli Sidwell
- First Nations Leaders – Tahnee Swan and Maicie Moller
- Cultural Captains – Sienna Watts and Cooper Hamlin
House Captain interviews conclude this week and we’ll be excited to announce our selections via our social media channels and in the next newsletter. 2026 promises to be a year to remember!
Year 11 students have now started Year 12 coursework. It is important to understand that every result contributes to their ATAR (if eligible) or QCE, so it is imperative that students are managing their workloads, meeting their study and assessment commitments and giving themselves the best chance to maximise their results at the end of next year. We encourage students and families to reach out for support if necessary in what is sometimes a stressful year.
On a final note, it is exciting but also daunting to see the class of 2026 receive their licenses and start driving independently. How the time flies! We run a range of road safety initiatives at Noosa High and encourage students to enjoy the freedom that getting a license brings, but also to understand the risks associated with driving and approach this task with the seriousness and responsibility it demands. We also ask students who are driving to school to register their number plate with the office – this allows us to contact students whose vehicles may need to be relocated due school or community needs.
I wish the Class of 2026 and families all the best as they begin this most exciting journey towards graduation in November next year. They are a special cohort of students and I can’t wait to share the many successes that will come their way in the next 12 months.

Year 10 Report
As we head into the final term of 2025, our Year 10 students at Noosa District State High School have much to celebrate and look forward to. This term marks a significant milestone in their educational journey, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements and growth.
SET Planning and Subject Selection Success
We are thrilled to share that nearly all Year 10 students have successfully completed their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plans and selected their subjects for Year 11 in 2026. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the thoughtful planning and future-focused mindset of our students. With the support of staff and families, students have taken important steps toward shaping their senior pathways and post-school goals.
Living Our School Expectations
Throughout the year, our Year 10 cohort has consistently demonstrated the core values of We are Responsible, We are Respectful, and We are Active Learners. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or in the wider school community, our students continue to uphold these expectations with pride. Their positive behaviour and commitment to learning have set a strong foundation for success in their senior years.
Finishing Strong
As we approach the end of the school year, we are encouraging all students to maintain high attendance and stay focused on completing their final assessments to the best of their ability. Every lesson counts, and consistent attendance is key to achieving personal bests and finishing the year on a high note.
We are excited to see what the future holds for our Year 10 students as they prepare to transition into senior schooling. Let’s continue to support and celebrate their efforts as they finish Term 4 with determination and pride.
Year 9 Report
Welcome back to Term 4! As we enter the final term of Year 9, it's crucial to stay on top of your child's progress. Please take the time to review their student diary and assessment planner regularly to ensure they are up-to-date with upcoming assessments and deadlines. Meeting deadlines is a valuable life skill, teaching students to manage their time effectively, which will benefit them beyond school. If you have any questions or would like further details about specific assessment items, please reach out to your child's teacher directly.
As we start this term, it's also a good opportunity to revisit our expectations regarding school uniform. Uniforms are a key aspect of school life as they represent respect, responsibility, and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) guidelines. Students will be reminded this week if they are wearing items that do not align with the uniform policy. Common issues include nose rings, multiple earrings, canvas shoes, and not wearing the formal shirt on the first day of the week. Please take a moment to discuss the school's uniform policy with your child, ensuring they are clear about the expectations.
Wishing you all a productive and successful few weeks ahead!

Year 7 & 8 Report
With Christmas only 73 days away, it’s amazing to think how quickly the year has flown by.
There’s plenty to look forward to in Term 4, with the Arts Academy heading out to Mimburi, Pink Day and Day for Daniel which both raise money for significant causes, the Celebration of Excellence where students will be recognised for their outstanding efforts, the year’s final Japanese Study Tour, and of course, the much-loved Grade of Origin football tournament which has become a drawcard at lunchtimes. Each of these moments gives our students a chance to get involved, show leadership, and celebrate their achievements together.
Our Year 7 and 8 students have really continued to impress us with how much they’ve grown this year. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and sense of community strengthen over time. Hard to believe that by this time next term, our Year 8s will have moved over to the Cooroy campus, and our current Year 7s will be stepping up as the new leaders of Pomona.
A big thank you to families for your ongoing support with uniforms; it’s great seeing students proudly wearing their white formal shirts at the start of each week. Please keep an eye on footwear too; all-black shoes with black or white socks really help keep our students looking their best and feeling part of the Pomona team.
It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting few weeks ahead. As always, thank you for your continued support, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at cfell0@eq.edu.au if I can help you or your child in any way.

What an exciting year it has been so far! As we enter our final term, our Year 12 cohort prepares itself for the soon-to-approaching external exams. On behalf of the student council, we have all been immensely grateful to lead you through 2025 and wish our future leaders luck in their journey ahead.
At the end of last term, Noosa District hosted its formal, a beautifully magical evening filled with lasting memories. A standout moment was the incredible performance by Eli Stewart and Lewis Perry, whose captivating duet set the tone for the night. The room sparkled with dancing lights, laughter, and joy as our Year 12 students came together to celebrate the journey they had shared and the milestones they had achieved.
Over the holidays, a group of adventurous students embarked on an unforgettable ski trip to Perisher, braving the cold weather. The week was filled with excitement as students hit the slopes, learned new skills, and enjoyed the snowy mountain scenery. It was a fantastic experience that brought everyone closer together while creating memories that will last well beyond the snow season.
In more recent news, our year 11 art students immersed themselves in the natural environment of Mimburi. Students had the opportunity to explore Noosa District's third campus and create beautiful artworks from the elements that surrounded them. This great experience leads them into their first unit of year 12 work.
In upcoming events, Pink Up Day is approaching, an amazing day that recognises those impacted by breast cancer and raises awareness about the issue. The day serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of early detection, support, and research, while also celebrating the strength and resilience of those who have been impacted. It’s a heartfelt event that brings the community together for an important cause, showing that every bit of awareness and kindness can make a difference.
Anticipation is building for the upcoming Graduation Ceremony. This special event marks the culmination of years of hard work, growth, and achievement for our graduating students. It’s a time to reflect on their journey, celebrate their successes, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities that lie beyond school. Surrounded by family, friends, and teachers, our graduates will take their final steps as Noosa District students and begin the next chapter of their lives with pride and optimism.
Looking forward, we are excited for the future we hold beyond school and encourage each of you to stay engaged, continue to show your school spirit, and make the most of every moment. On behalf of the Student Council and year 12 cohort, we want to wish you all an incredible rest of school.

Noosa District SHS Shines at 2025 Gold Coast Titans All Schools Touch Carnival
The 2025 Gold Coast Titans All Schools (GCTAS) Touch Football Carnival once again proved why it’s regarded as the world’s largest school touch football tournament. Held annually in October, the event brings together up to 600 teams from across Australia and beyond. Over five days, more than 8,000 students take to the fields, playing over 2,000 games across 30 venues, with crowds of up to 10,000 spectators cheering them on.
Noosa District SHS proudly fielded two competitive teams this year — the 15 Girls and 18 Mixed — who both demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience throughout the carnival.
The 15 Girls team played seven spirited matches, securing three impressive wins against Coombabah SHS (3–0), Bribie Island SHS (4–1), and Assisi Catholic College (3–2). Their skill, communication, and composure under pressure were evident across every game.
The 18 Mixed team also showed tremendous determination, battling through six challenging matches and recording two thrilling victories — a 5–4 nail-biter against Lindisfarne Anglican School and a confident 7–4 win over St Andrew’s Anglican College.
Both teams can be extremely proud of their performances against some of Queensland’s strongest touch football schools. Their commitment, sportsmanship, and school spirit were on full display, both on and off the field.
Congratulations to all players and coaches for their dedication and for representing Noosa District SHS with such pride at this prestigious event.

BYOX Devices for 2025
As parents will now be preparing to buy a BYOX device for 2025, please see below the 2025 Noosa District State High School BYOD specifications guide to assist you with purchasing your student’s computer.
Ensuring our children’s safety when using e-mobility devices
You may know that the increasing number of children riding e-mobility devices, such as e-scooters and e-bikes, is causing significant concern in our community. These devices can pose a substantial danger to children as they are vulnerable, inexperienced road users.
There are concerningly high numbers of students riding illegal e-bike devices to school.
While you may think the device your child is riding is an e-bike, it may not actually meet the legal requirements for it to be allowed to be ridden in public places.
In relation to e-scooters, the minimum age to ride an e-scooter in Queensland unsupervised is 16 years. However, in many instances, e-scooters are being ridden unsupervised by children under the age of 16.
Rider behaviour is also a significant issue. We are aware that there are reports of riders often taking extreme risks, such as:
- swerving in and out of traffic
- riding at high-speeds, and
- not wearing helmets.
This behaviour has resulted in devastating consequences, including injuries and deaths – with data indicating that this trend is on the rise. For example, a recent media release from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital showed that there were 176 injuries of children aged 5 to 15 between 2023 and 2024 from riding these devices.
How you can help
We ask that you and your family please take the time to read the information below about the rules for riding e-scooters and e-bikes. We’d also encourage you speak with your children about their riding behaviour, to ensure their safety and the safety of others. For more information, visit https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/e-bikes-e-scooters/.
E-scooter rules
- Only children aged 16+ can ride e-scooters and e-skateboards unsupervised.
- Helmets must be worn with the straps properly fastened (bicycle or motorcycle helmets).
- No passengers/doubling – only one person riding an e-scooter.
- Speed limit of 12km/h on footpaths and shared paths.
E-bike rules
A legal e-bike features:
- Pedals as the primary source of power (motor provides assistance only).
- Motor assistance only up to 25km/h.
- A motor output of 250 watts maximum continuous power.
- Look for a compliance sticker – EN15194
- Legal e-bikes must follow the same rules as other bicycles.
To check if your e-bike is legal visit: https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/electric-bikes/.
Serious fines can apply to both riders and parents for e-mobility offences. In some cases, police can confiscate devices too.
We must all work together to ensure that children are kept safe on the way to and from school and are not riding dangerous, high-speed devices while unsupervised and underage.
I trust that everyone will work to keep each other safe.
Student Wellbeing Support
The school has a team of wellbeing professionals based across both campuses to support students’ health and wellbeing. If students require assistance, they can access support through the Guidance Officer, School Nurse, or Chaplain. NDSHS also has a visiting Psychologist and Social Worker available.
Referrals or requests for support can be made through the Guidance Officer or the Student Wellbeing Action Team.
We wish our school community the very best of health and wellbeing for Term 4 and beyond.
2025 Ski Trip – An Unforgettable Alpine Adventure
Our 2025 Ski Trip crew headed to the snowy slopes of Perisher over the first five nights of the September holidays — and what an incredible adventure it was! Students embraced every moment, from learning new skills on the beginner slopes to confidently carving down the advanced runs with style and determination.
The group was treated to fresh snowfall that transformed the mountain into a breathtaking winter wonderland. Highlights of the trip included the thrill of night skiing under a sky full of stars and a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the alpine village.
Beyond the slopes, students enjoyed plenty of laughter, teamwork, and camaraderie, with lasting friendships formed throughout the shared experience. The trip not only built skiing skills but also encouraged resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of connection among participants.
A huge thank you to the dedicated staff and students whose enthusiasm, positivity, and school spirit made the 2025 Ski Trip such a memorable success.
Best ski trip crew ever!

Year 11 Visual Art Stimulus Excursion – Inspiring Future Bodies of Work
Year 11 Visual Art students recently embarked on a stimulus excursion to Caloundra, immersing themselves in a diverse range of 2D and 3D artworks while exploring both urban and natural environments.
The day began with a guided walking tour of the Caloundra CBD Public Art Trail, led by the Caloundra Regional Gallery’s Assistant Curator. The 1.8km loop features 15 public artworks that celebrate local history, colourful stories, and thought-provoking murals and sculptures by both local and national artists.
Students then visited the Caloundra Regional Gallery, where they were introduced to the Sunshine Coast National Art Prize 2025 by the Gallery’s Senior Learning and Engagement Officer. This dynamic exhibition showcases exceptional contemporary 2D and new media practices from across Australia, providing students with valuable insights into current professional artmaking trends and ideas.
In the afternoon, students headed to Bulcock Beach, where they engaged in reflective artmaking activities inspired by their surroundings. The excursion provided a rich foundation of visual and conceptual stimulus, supporting the development of each student’s individual inquiry and Body of Work in their Year 12 Visual Art studies.

Junior Art Update
Artists on the Horizon
Several of our talented NDSHS Junior Art students from Years 7 and 8 were recently chosen to showcase their work at the Immanuel Lutheran College Annual Youth Art Showcase. This inspiring event highlights the creativity of young artists from across the Sunshine Coast and beyond. A special congratulations to Jamie (Year 7), who received Highly Commended for her detailed graphite drawing of Beyonce.
Noosa Country Show
Our Junior campus was also proudly represented at the 2025 Noosa Country Show. In the Drawing and Painting (Years 7–9) category, Dakota (Year 8) achieved First Place for her graphite portrait, Ava (Year 8) received Second Place for her symbolic self-portrait, and Ashleigh (Year 8) earned Third Place for her celebrity graphite drawing. These outstanding results reflect the dedication and talent of our young artists—well done to all involved!

Arts Academy Excursion
Students in the Performing and Visual Arts academy recently spent a day out at Mimburi campus and engaged in a day long workshop. We also welcomed 10 future academy students from Pomona State School to join us in our creative day.
The first section of the day saw the student’s collecting inspiration from our surroundings as we walked to the Mary River, stopping at significant landmarks to discuss the history of the area. The Visual Arts Academy students engaged in insightful talks with Andrew, deepening their understanding of the environment and its significance. Along the way, they collected leaves, weeds, and wildflowers, which they later used to create beautiful monoprints. These artworks were inspired by the elements and landscapes they encountered on their walk, capturing the textures, colours, and spirit of the Mimburi environment.
After a well-deserved break the two groups separated and dove headfirst into the creating section of the workshops. Performing Arts students, inspired by May Gibbs stories of gumnut babies and banksia men, and local folklore of Yowies began devising campfire stories with action scenes whilst the Visual Art students began assembling their materials for the monoprinting activities.
Students then performed their scenes for each other and showed their works in progress from the print activities before travelling back to Pomona. We’d like to thank Andrew and Stan from the Mimburi campus for making our day so enjoyable. We all had a wonderful day creating and performing our works and look forward to another Arts Academy excursion next year.

Performing Arts Star Shines Bright – Max Martin’s Next Big Step!
Noosa District State High School is incredibly proud of Max Martin, one of our exceptionally talented Performing Arts students, who has been accepted into the Queensland College of Dance’s Diploma of Musical Theatre Program for 2026.
Max recently captivated audiences in our school musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he delivered a truly outstanding performance as Willy Wonka. His dedication, charisma, and professional stage presence made the production an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
This exciting next chapter will see Max undertake an extensive two-year, full-time course designed to prepare emerging performers for a career in Musical Theatre, Cabaret, Cruise Ships, Film, Touring, and other performing arts industries. Students in the program receive world-class training in acting, singing, dance, acrobatics, vocal and performance coaching, physical conditioning, and performance psychology—all skills Max has already demonstrated with great passion and commitment here at NDSHS.
Max’s success is a testament to his talent, determination, and the vibrant culture of excellence fostered within the Noosa District SHS Performing Arts Academy. We can’t wait to see where this exciting journey takes him next—there’s no doubt the stage lights will continue to shine brightly on Max Martin!
Congratulations, Max — your NDSHS family is so proud of you!
Grade of Origin 2025: Year 7s Take the Title in a Thrilling Decider
The much-anticipated 'Grade of Origin' football series between the Year 7 and Year 8 boys lived up to all expectations. Across three hard-fought games, both teams displayed impressive skill, teamwork, and determination — but it was the Year 7s who came out on top, winning the series in an exciting decider match.
After splitting the first two games, everything came down to the final clash. The Year 7 boys showed great composure under pressure, combining solid defence with athletic attacking plays to secure victory and claim the Grade of Origin Championship.
The action doesn't stop there! The girls' Grade of Origin competition kicks off this term, with matches played during lunch 1 on Wednesdays in Weeks 2, 3, and 4. Stay tuned to see if Year 7 can make a clean sweep and take out both series, just like the mighty Brisbane Broncos!

P&C News
The P&C has been very busy as of late, preparing a new tuckshop menu that will be available from Monday 18th August. Pre-ordering with our flexischools app will have your child jumping the queue and seeing what is available. Not to mention making sure they don't miss out on the item they want to try. These menu items will be available at both campuses.
We would also like to thank the volunteers who helped us support the musical experience by serving meals before the show. Courtney Pickering, Kylie Coppinger, William Batten along with Mia Hacker from the executive and the incredible efforts by Rachel Chamberlain and Sarah Spencer who prepared all of the delicious food. Thank you so much team. It was fabulous to see the well oiled team they were.
Many hands make light work and we appreciate any skills and time that you might have in supporting the P&C with different projects that pop up during the year. The focus this year is increasing the presence of the P&C and fundraising to be able to give back to the school community helping to create an enjoyable environment for our children.

Your P&C Association is comprised of a small number of parents who choose to contribute two hours a meeting to benefit the students at Noosa District State High School. The more people involved the merrier, all parents are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.
