Excellence in Learning
Academic excellence remains a core value at NDSHS. We recently honoured our top achievers from Years 7–12 at a special Academic Morning Tea, catered by our talented hospitality students. It was inspiring to hear these students share their habits of success and reflect on their learning journeys.
Musical
Noosa High Musicals are known for their outstanding stage productions and this year has been no different as our students and staff took centre stage with our musical, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Featuring 150 students from Years 5–12, the production was a joyful celebration of talent, teamwork, and school spirit. We couldn’t be prouder of the staff and students who brought this magical show to life. What an incredible production!
Careers and Pathways Expo
Our recent Pathways and Careers Expo showcased the diverse opportunities available to students, highlighting the flexibility and innovation of our flagship programs. We’re grateful to our local industry and tertiary education partners whose support helps us offer some of the most dynamic subject choices and flexible pathways on the coast. Student pathways are in great hands at NDSHS!
Interschool Sports
Our Year 7 and 8 Interschool sports teams took the fields and courts last week and shared some outstanding success representing our school the highest standard in round 1. We look forward to the next round of competition and congratulate all students who are involved and thank our wonderful staff for supporting teams.
Well done to our athletes who competed in the District Athletics competition this week – we cannot wait to share the success stories!
Just as energy, enthusiasm and persistence alter all things, as does continued and focussed effort. As we continue through the term, it is important our students keep up the hard work in the classroom and maintain their energy on the end of unit assessment. When reflecting on learning, we use the 5 questions for students to get feedback on learning and these are very helpful for parents as well.
Class of 2025 – Year 12 final semester
Our Year 12 students are an outstanding group of young people who make an amazing contribution to our school and wider community every day. The qualities of this group reflect the values of our school, entire community and their families; and we have seen them grow and develop into a close group of students who have a strong sense of service, connection and commitment to make a difference in the world. As a very special group of young people facing their final semester, I know they will finish strongly and each and every one of us are behind these students to do the best they can. We look forward to the Senior Formal as a key occasion of this final semester scheduled Thursday 18th September at the School Hall and welcome our entire community to line Tulip St and celebrate student arrivals which will be a showcase for our community. Good luck to our Year 12’s in their final units of study at NDSHS. We know they will do themselves, their families and the school proud.
Student Leadership
The selection of our student leaders for 2026 is about to commence. Our student leaders are custodians of our student voice, culture and have an important role in our school community as they build on the legacy of those before them. I have been particularly impressed with our student leadership group from years 7-12 this year and have great confidence that we will find a strong group of student leaders to build on the successes of this year for 2026. Our future at Noosa is in great hands.
School Opinion Survey
We have a lot to celebrate at Noosa High and are always looking to capture our successes and areas of improvement. If you haven’t yet filled out our online School Opinion Survey please check your emails or contact the school. Your voice matters.
Once again, please enjoy the celebrations in our newsletter as we continue to reach exceptional heights as a school community. Thank-you all for your ongoing support and partnership as we work together to empower student success each and every day at Noosa High.

Junior Secondary Campus Context …
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the term, but time flies when you’re part of something extraordinary!
At our Junior Secondary campus, we don’t just teach, we cultivate a one-of-a-kind learning environment where every student is empowered to succeed. Our approach is built on strong relationships, tailored support, and a deep belief in the potential of every learner.
Each week, students engage in FLYING Wellbeing lessons, where they learn practical strategies to regulate emotions and prepare themselves for learning. Every student has a Ready to Learn Plan, personally developed to identify what works best for them. These plans are more than just documents, they’re roadmaps to success. Why not ask your child what strategies help them thrive in the classroom?
We’re also proud to see students ‘Planning for Excellence’, a reflective process where they review their progress, set meaningful goals, and take ownership of their learning journey. It’s inspiring to watch them aim high and grow with purpose.
As part of our annual improvement plan, our dedicated teachers are working hard to ensure every student is exposed to A-level thinking across all subjects. By now, students should be well aware of their assessments, how they’ll be marked, and where to find support. If you’re unsure about your child’s upcoming assessments, please reach out to their classroom teacher.
Last week, our campus buzzed with energy as around 120 Year 7 and 8 students represented us in interschool sports, competing in basketball, netball, touch football, soccer, and volleyball. A huge thank you to all students, staff, and families who made this day a success. Coordinating such an event is no small feat, and your support is deeply appreciated.
Our campus isn’t just a place to learn, it’s a place to grow, connect, and soar. Thank you for being part of this journey.
Kind regards,
Josh Cleary
Head of Campus
Uniform Update – Mid Term 3
Uniform and school pride – keeping standards strong through Term 3
At Noosa District State High School, we continue to take pride in the way our students present themselves. Our uniform reflects the high standards, unity, and respect that are central to our school culture.
As we move through the second half of Term 3 and the cooler mornings persist, we remind families that only approved school jumpers and jackets are to be worn. This helps maintain consistency and supports the pride we take in our school image.
We also remind families that formal uniform is to be worn every Monday, setting a strong and united tone for the week ahead.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our uniform expectations and for helping us maintain a sense of pride and belonging across our school communit

Year 11 Report
Greetings Year 11s and families and welcome to the half way point of the term! The weeks are certainly flying by and before we know it Term 4 will be here and the class of 2026 will commence Year 12 work. Before that happens though, there are a number of key events that should be acknowledged.
Firstly, our wonderful musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory graced the stage for the last time on Saturday the 9th of August. It was an incredible production, driven by the creative vision and dedication of Ms Sharon Harris and Ms Louize Lyle. A number of our talented year 11s were cast in lead roles, and even more put their hands up for the dance chorus and the result could not have been more spectacular. It was a reminder about the creative abilities of our students and the wonderful job done by the Performing Arts team here at Noosa District State High School. You make our school community so proud!
The second major event underway currently is student leadership applications for the class of 2026. Positions available include school captain, vice-captain, student council executive, cultural captains and sports captains. The response from Year 11 students has, expectedly, been outstanding. Nomination forms are due back to the senior leadership team by the end of week 6, and in week 7 we’ll sit down and shortlist our applicants before leadership interviews and speeches take place. Our new student executive leadership team will be announced at Celebration of Excellence at the end of the term.
Finally, this week is Bullying No Way Week, a national week of action that allows students to take a stand against bullying in all its forms. Our Year 11 student leaders have lead this initiative and it will culminate on Friday with a pledge to take a stand against bullying at Noosa District State High School. I’m proud of the hard work and enthusiasm demonstrated by our leaders around this event, and I can’t wait to share many more positive opportunities with them as we head towards their all important final year of schooling. Keep up the great work Class of 2026
Jacob Boulden
Year 10 Report
Term 3 has bought about a significant change in the mindset of our year 10’s, many of whom are working on their knowledge of self, especially their strengths. This in turn leads them to research on pathways, whether this be in the form of school-based apprenticeships, traineeships, vocational pathways or ATAR pathways. We are seeing students maturely focus in on their next paths of study as they prepare to finalise subject selections for senior schooling. This is an exciting stage! Subject selections must be entered by as soon as possible.
The SET planning process, for those who have not yet partaken with previous students, is an opportunity for students, parents and teachers to sit down together. This discussion ensures that student subject choices meet their desires future path. Most meeting will take approximately 15 minutes and are invaluable. SET planning is in term 4 and you will be contacted to book in for these interviews. Our aim is to have all of our students set up for their chosen pathway ready to launch in 2026.
All of this emphasises the need for every student to be present, be prepared and put in the effort to achieve the success that they are capable of. As always if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Year 9 Report
Hello everyone,
A big congratulations to all our Year 9 students who took part in the recent musical production—both on stage and behind the scenes. Your hard work and dedication were clear for all to see, and the success of the show truly reflected a whole-school effort, with each year level playing an important role.
As we reach the halfway point of another busy term, it’s a good time to remind students of the key foundations for success at school:
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be an Active Learner.
Uniform standards have generally been excellent—thank you! However, as we move through the final weeks of winter, it’s important to ensure that students are wearing the correct school jumper and appropriate footwear. Non-uniform or unsafe shoes may prevent students from participating in practical subjects that require protective leather footwear. If there are any uniform concerns, please see me in B block or Gaylene in T11.
Assessment season is fast approaching, with many subjects having both midterm and end-of-term tasks. My advice to students and families: start early. Beginning assignments as soon as they are issued allows time for thoughtful drafting and helps avoid the pressure of last-minute workloads.
Wishing everyone a productive and enjoyable remainder of the term.
Bernard Weekes
Year 7 & 8 Report
We’re only halfway through Term 3 and we already have several things to celebrate.
Last week’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory production was a spectacular success! Congratulations to our talented Year 7s and 8s for helping bringing Roald Dahl’s magical world to life — the performances were nothing short of amazing.
We’re also celebrating the incredible achievement of 120 of our students who represented Noosa District in Interschool Sport. It was a very proud moment when almost half of our campus boarded buses to participate in their chosen sports.
Looking ahead, this week we’re taking a stand as part of Bullying. No Way! On Friday, students can visit the library to make a pledge to stand up against bullying and create a kinder, more inclusive school community.
Further ahead, next Friday (Week 6) is our much-anticipated Book Week dress-Up day! We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative costumes inspired by their favourite characters.
Thank you for your continued support. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at cfell0@eq.edu.au if I can support you or your child in any way.

As we look back on Term 2 so far, we’re proud to reflect on the outstanding achievements within our school community. Last week marked the highly anticipated opening of our school musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With an incredible turnout and enthusiastic audience, the production was an overwhelming success.
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who helped bring the show to life. From the tireless organisers behind the scenes to our wonderfully talented cast and crew, your dedication, creativity, and teamwork resulted in an unforgettable performance that truly showcased the spirit of our school. The vibrant costumes, captivating performances, and magical set transported audiences straight into Willy Wonka’s world.
Excitement is building as our much-anticipated School Formal draws near. This special evening will provide students with an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, enjoy a night of dining and dancing, and create lasting memories with friends. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed to impress for what promises to be a truly unforgettable event.
Earlier this term, our school hosted the annual Pathways and Careers Excursion, offering students and their families valuable insight into the incredible opportunities available at our school. The event gave students the chance to connect with potential future employers and training providers from a wide range of industries, helping them explore possible career paths and gain a clearer vision of their future.
On the academic front, our year 11 students prepare themselves for the upcoming exam block commencing in week 10. As our Year 12 students submit their final pieces of internal assessment, they prepare for the fast-approaching external exams. With QTAC applications now open, students have the opportunity to apply for early offers, allowing them to plan ahead and take confident steps towards their post-school pathways.
Looking forward, we are excited for all the events and activities that the rest of 2025 has in store. We encourage each of you to stay engaged, continue to show your school spirit, and make the most of every moment. On behalf of the Student Council, we want to wish you all an incredible rest of the term.

Year 7 & 8 Interschool Sport – Day 1 Success
On Thursday of Week 4, 120 of our Year 7 and 8 students took part in the first day of their Interschool Sport competition. Representing Pomona across all five sports — touch football, basketball, netball, volleyball, and soccer — our teams showed determination, teamwork, and school spirit.
Despite a little organisational chaos, Day 1 was an ultimate success. We now look ahead to Day 2 on Tuesday of Week 6, where our athletes will aim to finish strong and hopefully bring home a trophy or two for Pomona.

A Golden Success – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The curtain has closed on Noosa District State High School’s spectacular production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but the memories, magic, and friendships will last forever.
Over four incredible performances, our students transported packed audiences into the magical world of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. With more than 90 colourful Oompa Loompas, a talented ensemble from Years 5 to 12, and stunning sets and costumes, the show was nothing short of extraordinary.
Year 12 student Max Martin shone as the eccentric and charming Willy Wonka, while Year 8 student Keenan James brought heart and warmth to the role of Charlie Bucket. Both gave outstanding performances, supported by a dedicated cast and crew who poured countless hours into rehearsals, set construction, costumes, props, and technical effects.
Directors Louize Lyle and Sharon Harris expressed their pride and gratitude:
“This show was only possible because of the incredible support of our entire school community. From students and parents to teachers and support staff, every contribution—big or small—made a huge difference.”
We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who sewed costumes, painted sets, built props, supervised rehearsals, managed hair and makeup, cooked for camp, worked front of house, sold goodies, ran ticketing, or simply came along to cheer us on. Special thanks also go to the HPE staff for giving up their teaching space, our cleaning staff for keeping everything spotless, and Jamie and Travis for setting up and packing down over 700 chairs for each performance.
This production would not have reached the heights it did without the generosity of our local business community, whose donations, sponsorship, and time made all the difference. We gratefully acknowledge McDermott Aviation, Pomona True Value Hardware, Pomona Distillery, George Real Estate, Bendigo Bank Cooroy, Cooroy Auto Wreckers, Sunshine Mitre 10, Gelignite Jacks Cooroy, Tewantin Noosa RSL, Cooroy RSL, Bunnings Noosaville, Noosaville Officeworks, Busy At Work, Wimmers, Cooroy Hotel, Cooroy Lifeline, Page Furnishers, Fine Old and Funky, Your Local Lifestyle, and Magick Hair and Beauty.
Local MP Sandy Bolton summed it up beautifully in her post-show comments:
“WOW, WOW AND MEGA WOW!!! Noosa District SHS production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was absolutely phenomenal… BRAVO!!”
To our students—thank you for your dedication, talent, and teamwork. To our staff—thank you for your patience, time, and support. And to our parents, families, and community—thank you for being part of something truly magical.
This production was more than a school musical—it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. We couldn’t be prouder.
