Principal’s Perspective

Stacy Wilmore - Copy (Copy).png

Dear Parents, students and community

Welcome to week 5 of Term of term 1 where students are doing themselves proud and working hard in learning. Our staff and students have made a great start both in in the classroom and outside; and it was wonderful to meet so many parents and put a face to a name at our recent meet and greet event at Pomona Campus for all staff and families.

Supporting success in learning habits

As we reach the half way point of Term 1, routines of learning practice become essential to success.

All students have their assessment schedules emailed to help support their organisation and have recently reflected on their academic progress to goal set in their Planning for Excellence (P4E) lesson time. This is essential to support deliberate learning habits and I encourage parents to discuss these with your students. Success is a result of intentional habits, repeated over time, and it takes hard work.

Another way to monitor progress towards success and support student reflection is using the 5 questions for students (Sharratt). This is used as a practice by teachers and leaders in the school and are a great tool for parents to promote learning conversations in the home environment:

All students should be able to tell you what their assessment task is for the term and what is required to achieve and A or B standard. If you have any questions about your students assessment, please contact the classroom teacher.

ZONTA Club of Noosa Awards - 2024 STEM Bursary – Trishali Lal

Recently our 2024 School Captain and Senior Dux Trishali was awarded a 2024 Stem Award.  Funded by Bendigo Community Bank Tewantin-Noosa and supported by the Zonta Club of Noosa, these awards recognize outstanding female students pursuing STEM degrees, helping to foster gender balance and equal opportunities in the industry.

Trishali is set to pursue Medicine at James Cook University, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements.

Thank you to Bendigo community bank Tewantin-Noosa and Zonta for the difference you make in our community.

P&C AGM

The P&C is an important community voice to the school and a valued partnership in our school. We are always looking to extend the membership and invite parents and community members to attend our AGM and consider taking on an role in the P&C executive.

The P&C AGM is coming up on 25th March at 5pm where executive positions will be declared open.  We hope to see you there.

Student Dress Code

Our uniform is a symbol of pride and connection to our school and a high standard of uniform and presentation is not something we are willing to compromise.

I would like to thank all parents and every student for their commitment to our Student Dress Code and all those who took the time to complete the uniform survey. Our uniform sub-committee of the P&C will prepare a report through the P&C on any recommendations from these findings.

Comedy for a Couse – P&C fundraiser

Our first major fundraiser at NDSHS is a great opportunity for community, families and friends to gather NDSH and Events for greater good. We want to fill the hall, so please book and support this event that brings incredible comedians to our community.
