Junior Secondary Campus Context …

Engaging Families for a Strong Start

In Week 3, we had the pleasure of welcoming families to our Pomona Campus for our highly anticipated annual Meet and Greet. It was inspiring to witness so many parents exploring our one-of-a-kind campus alongside their children, enjoying the delicious afternoon tea catered by our senior Hospitality students, and meeting our dedicated 2025 teaching team.

This event has always provided an invaluable opportunity for parents and community members to connect with our staff in a relaxed setting, reinforcing the strong partnerships that drive student success, and this year was no different.

Families, met with teachers in our brand new, state of the art, hall, across classrooms and heard specific information sessions pertaining to junior, middle and senior schooling.

Empowering Students Through Personalised Learning

Our highly skilled Junior Secondary specialist teaching staff are deeply committed to understanding each learner as an individual. Through strategic engagement and meaningful relationships, they tailor their teaching to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

The various Heads of Department and I have been in and out of classrooms regularly observing the learning taking place over the last 4 weeks. It is evident that our teachers employ a diverse range of dynamic teaching methods that captivate and inspire our students. By continuously assessing progress and adapting learning activities, teachers create an engaging, student-centered environment where every child can thrive.

Similarly, as school leaders, we continue observe the learning across all of our classrooms to refine our whole school teaching and learning cycle.

Soaring to New Heights with the FLYING Philosophy

The year has taken off with great energy as students embrace our signature FLYING Program—an integral part of their learning journey. This initiative reinforces the importance of our school values: ‘Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be an Active Learner.’ Through goal-setting activities in their school diaries and OneSchool, students are about to begin mapping their educational aspirations, future pathways, and strategies for success.

We encourage parents and carers to engage in conversations with their children about these goals, reinforcing the importance of persistence and a growth mindset. Learning is a lifelong adventure, and through our strong school-family partnership, we will guide our students toward excellence.

We are also excited to introduce the innovative FLYING+ program, where students can immerse themselves in specialised learning experiences aligned with their passions and interests. These enriching opportunities support the development of 21st-century skills, equipping our students for a bright and successful future. We look forward to celebrating their achievements as they progress through their FLYING+ journeys.

Celebrating Campus Life, Community and Sporting Spirit

We commend the many students who have stepped forward to represent our school in various sporting teams and extracurricular activities. The enthusiasm for lunchtime clubs and campus events has been outstanding, demonstrating the vibrant and inclusive culture that makes Pomona Junior Secondary Campus truly unique.

In week 3, we also held out school swimming carnival on the Cooroy campus. It was fantastic to see so many students participating in the events, as they fought it out for the sporting house.

At Pomona Junior Secondary Campus, we are not just a school—we are a thriving community that nurtures excellence, inspires innovation, and fosters lifelong learning.

Kind regards,
