From the Deputies’ Desks
Term 1 has seen our students settle well in to their classes and new subjects. The start of year is a great opportunity at home to discuss how students are going, and what good habits they can put in to place to continue strengthening their understanding and success. QCAA have some useful support tools to assist students at all junctures of their education.
Assessment
At Noosa District SHS, we have a whole school assessment policy that supports students, families and staff on best practice for preparing and submitting assessment. Information regarding the steps to take for assessment, including the School extension and AARA request forms, can be found on the School website here.
At NDSHS Assessment Calendars for Semester 1 2025 were distributed to students via their school email address at the beginning of this Term. Please ensure you check your child has received their assessment calendars. It is always worthwhile to have a copy of this visible at home. If there are any subjects missing please contact the relevant teacher and/or curriculum Head of Department - https://noosadistrictshs.eq.edu.au/our-school/our-staff
We are Active Learners @ NDSHS – Attendance…Every day, every classroom and every minute counts
Attendance
Every day counts at NDSHS and we congratulate every student who is on target for 100% attendance. As you are aware, 90% attendance is the base expectation at NDSHS and this supports active learning and increases the opportunities for student success. 90% attendance is equivalent to less than 4 days away over a term. Congratulations to all of our students who are on track for their attendance targets. Keep up the great work!
How much learning time are you really getting?
Just a little bit late doesn’t seem like much but …
Uniform
It is fantastic to see our students wearing the school uniform with pride, particularly on Tuesdays when they wear the formal uniform. To support full compliance, we will continue to send reminders to parents on Monday afternoons to ensure all students arrive in the correct uniform.
Noosa District State High School remains committed to upholding the dress code by providing loan items when available and requesting the removal of inappropriate items. We will also work with families to support uniform compliance. If a student is not in the correct uniform, they will be required to change into a school-provided uniform at the Student Services Centre before Home Group, if one is available.
Our complete dress code is located on the school website that clearly unpacks the expectations for students.
Senior School Information Session
Later this term we will be holding an online Afternoon information Webinar for families regarding Senior School. If you are interested in attending this session, please submit your EOI to this link, where you are also able to submit requests for what areas of Senior School you would like to learn from.
