Principal’s Perspective

Dear Parents, students and community

Welcome to our final newsletter of what has been a tremendous term at Noosa High. We have so much to be proud of at our wonderful school and it has been inspiring watching our students shine both inside the classroom and out this term.

Celebrating Success – Great start from our 2025 Senior Leaders and student leadership body

I know our student leaders have been officially introduced but I would like to congratulate and thank this great group of students for the fantastic start to the school year with significant contribution to the school.   This has been particularly evident in the active role our student leaders have taken in events over the term at both campuses and the difference this has made. Well done to everyone involved - we couldn’t be prouder and our school student body is in great hands.

Our 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan

As you are aware, we are in the second year of our 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan that is building on the momentum of our school and secure our future direction.

Our Strategic Plan is focussed on 3 key Priorities across 4 years:

  • Achieve excellence in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning
  • Achieve meaningful learning and growth for every student
  • Advance to our desired culture

Our 2025 Annual Improvement Plan is the work for this year towards our strategic goals and our staff are well on the way in this work. Our 2025 Improvement priorities include:

  • Improving the proportion of A/B results across the school
  • Maximising student success through active engagement

Over this term, as part of the explicit improvement agenda, we have been focussed on the following aspects:

  • Quality Curriculum and Pre-moderation practices – this ensures clarity of the curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment practices to support student success against the Australian Curriculum for Years 7-10 and the Queensland Curriculum for Years 11-12. Our Maths and English teams have commenced the implementation of Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum and our HPE and Science teams have commenced active planning for implementation in 2026. All faculties are working on increasing the proportion of A/B results with students through ensuring students have a shared understanding of assessment and marking guide requirements and ongoing feedback against the marking guide is provided. All faculties are providing assessment response exemplars to students at the A and C standard to support students.
  • Positive Behaviour for Learning (Respectful, Responsible, Active Learners) - students benefit from predictable environments supported by consistent practices in the classroom and non-classroom settings. This term we have focussed on the explicit teaching of schoolwide expectations, classroom routines and procedures and appropriate behaviours in both classroom and non-classroom settings. Students are doing an excellent job in demonstrating our behaviour expectations and this is reflected in our calm and positive learning environments – well done staff and students.
  • Attendance – Attendance at school is explicitly linked to success. Over the term we have been reviewing our school attendance response and continuing to ensure that students are supported to maximise their learning days. Parents as partners in this is essential and we thank parents for your support in this area.
  • Line of sight to learning – Using the 5 Questions for students to support intentional instructional practices through Learning Walks and Talks.

Next term we look forward to using progress data of students to continue to support the success of every student.

NAPLAN

Well done to all of our Year 7 and 9 students who have recently completed NAPLAN. This will provide important information on how students are progressing and recognise strengths and opportunities for students. We look forward to sharing and celebrating these results when they arrive.

TJ Ryan Memorial Scholarship – Merit winner

Well done to 2024 School Captain and Year 12 Dux recipient Trishali Lal in being recognised in the TJ Memorial award winners for 2024. The TJ Ryan Memorial Medal and Scholarships are awarded each year to support Queensland students who show outstanding leadership in their school and community, and achieve academic excellence in Year 12. Trishali is one of the elite 35 awardees across the state and we congratulate her on this achievement.

Formal Uniform change to first day of the week

As a result of our recent uniform survey feedback, we are moving formal uniform day from Tuesday to the first day of the week. This will generally be Mondays unless there is a public holiday. We will also move our whole of campus parades to Mondays in order to support this routine. I thank you for your support of this small adjustment.

On behalf of our entire school community, I would like to thank you for your support, partnership and commitment to our students this term

Stay connected by visiting the school website, following us on Facebook and Instagram, and if you haven’t already signed up for QParents, please do so, and you will have a wealth of information about your child at your fingertips.

Kind regards

Ms Wilmore
