Principal’s Perspective

Stacy_Wilmore.jpg

Dear Parents, students and community

What a great start we have had to term 2 in what has already been abuzz with activity both inside and outside our classrooms. Over the past two weeks we have continued to celebrate being back and getting into the learning that will support the success of every student at NDSHS.

Anzac Day

Last week, our students paid their respects as part of our Anzac Commemoration parades at each campus that were of the highest standard and supported by local RSL members. Our student leaders and a large body of students and staff also represented our school and local community at Tewantin, Eumundi and Cooroy services. Thank you to our community members who made these important services happen as we all reflect and thank those who have served.

Football Champions

Congratulations to our boys football team who won the grand final of the Sunshine Coast Open football competition defeating St Johns, and to our girls football team who made the semi-final at Maroochydore soccer club last Wednesday. After what has been an impressive and engaging season, our players did themselves, our school and community proud progressing to the finals and playing with the highest standard of teamwork, skill and resilience to take out the win. It has been wonderful to the support from all spectators, staff and families at the matches. Special thanks to Mr Meredith and Mr Zaslavsky Broklebank for coaching and well done to our players on both teams for these incredible performances.

Teaching and Learning

Following pleasing progress in our improvement agenda last term, we remain focussed on increasing A/B results across the school (currently on track at over 50%), and maximinsing student success through active engagement. Our students have produced some outstanding results in Term 1 and we look forward to these continuing in Term 2.

This week, students will receive their individual Track-Ed student profile that supports their progress reflection, planning for excellence and continued academic success. Every student should know how they are going and what they need to do to improve.

We use these 5 Questions to focus learning conversations for students:

I encourage all parents to attend the Parent Teacher interviews scheduled for Tuesday of week 4 (13th May) which will be held for Years 7-12 at Cooroy Campus. More details will be out this week – please get in early to book your sessions with all teachers.  Together we support the success for every student to realise their potential.

Uniform – Student Dress Code

A high standard of uniform is important to reflect a sense of pride in self, school and our community and I would like to thank every parent and student for your support this each and every day.

All students are expected to be in full school uniform as per the Student Dress Code every day without exception. This will include school jumpers. The only acceptable option is the school uniform jacket/jumper that can be purchased from the uniform shop. Please make arrangements for purchase or contact the school if you require support.

The wearing of the Noosa High uniform has become a symbol of success in our community and something all students should be proud of, as it stands for everything that is good about the qualities of our students and our wonderful school community. We have had a great commitment from our school community to our revised dress code this year and this has made a positive difference to our school.

Facilities Upgrades – Cooroy Campus Hall Toilets

We are dedicated to providing top-notch facilities for our students, and we are thrilled to announce the completion of the first bathroom upgrades at Cooroy Campus. This project was prioritized based on student feedback and strongly supported by the 2024 Captains Club student leadership team.

The Hall bathrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment, including the replacement of all cubicles and flooring, to enhance privacy and modernize the facility for our students. The upgraded bathrooms reopened this week.

We look forward to continuing our facilities enhancements at both campuses throughout the year
