Junior Secondary Campus Context …

A Focus on Quality Teaching and Learning…

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope your Easter break was filled with rest and rejuvenation, and that you’re ready for a term packed with growth, achievement, and inspiration. Our vibrant Junior Secondary campus is already buzzing with energy as students settle smoothly back into the rhythm of school life.

As part of our commitment to excellence, students will soon engage in our Planning for Excellence program during their Flying lessons. This reflective process empowers students to identify their strengths, pinpoint areas for improvement, and set personal learning goals - critical skills for lifelong learning and future success.

We invite all parents and carers to be part of this learning journey by attending the upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 13th May. This is a valuable opportunity to support your child in their academic goals. Please refer to the latest Schoolzine email to book appointments through PTOnline.

Behind the scenes, our dedicated educators are driving our 2025 Explicit Improvement Agenda forward, using student data to refine and elevate teaching strategies. It’s this data-informed, student-centered approach, that sets our Pomona campus apart - a place where high-quality learning is not just a goal, but a daily experience.

Junior Secondary Campus’ FLYING Philosophy…

Our campus is more than just a place to learn - it’s a place where students are encouraged to soar. Through our weekly FLYING program, we continue to cultivate a culture that’s uniquely ours, steeped in the values of respect, responsibility, and active learning.

A highlight of this program is our Pomona rewards token system, which recognises and celebrates students for academic excellence, positive behaviour, and strong attendance. Each token is a symbol of achievement, entered into our fortnightly prize draw in the library - building a sense of excitement and community.

Regular attendance remains a cornerstone of our philosophy. Every day at school opens doorsto knowledge, to friendships, and to the future. Research backs it, and we see it firsthand - students who attend regularly thrive. If you need support around attendance, our Heads of Year and Student Support Team are here to help. Let’s work together to ensure every student takes flight.

What’s been happening at the Junior Secondary Campus…

On Thursday 24th April, our students and staff came together for a moving ANZAC Ceremony. We’re incredibly proud of the student leaders who guided the event with poise, and of the entire student body for their respectful and thoughtful participation. The ANZAC spirit remains a strong and meaningful part of our community.

Looking ahead, excitement is building for the Pomona campus cross country competition on Friday 8th May. This is always a spirited event that brings out the best in our students - whether they’re chasing a personal best, cheering on their house, or simply enjoying the day with friends.

Don’t miss our Junior Secondary Showcase on Tuesday 27th May - a standout event that offers families a glimpse into the incredible work happening every day on campus. From classroom projects to co-curricular highlights, it’s a celebration of everything that makes Pomona unique. More details coming soon!

And finally, later this term, our commitment to social responsibility shines through at our Sleep Rough fundraiser on Friday 13th June, hosted at our Belli Park Mimburi campus. This important event reminds us all of the power of empathy, community, and action.

Kind regards,
