Year Level Coordinator Reports

Year 12 Report

As we continue through the challenging Unit 3 preparations, keep in mind that your hard work and consistent revision will pay off. It’s normal to face tough moments, but don’t forget—we’re all in this together as a cohort. Your success depends on engagement, attendance, and seeking feedback. Keep pushing forward, and remember, we’re here to support you!

Looking ahead to 2026, it’s crucial to start discussing your future pathways. Where do you see yourself? How will you achieve these goals? Mr. Quinn is eager to connect with you and guide you on this journey. We also had Andrea from Link and Launch meet with students to offer her services, and together with your home group teachers, we have a team of staff who are ready to help—just ask!

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Sleep Rough and our Athletics Carnival in Week 10. These events are perfect for creating lasting memories!

Year 10 Report

I have to say how fantastic it is to see year 10 students actively participating in their classes and around school grounds encouraging positive behaviours. I have spent time this term catching up with students in Year 10, learning about how they are progressing with their learning and equally as important, the plans they are putting in place for their future pathways.

Speaking of future pathways, students have started discussions with our senior schooling team around their senior pathways. Last week our senior schooling deputy, Mrs Seaniger, introduced the concepts of ATAR and QCE to our year 10 cohort during parade. This leads directly into our conversations that will occur around SET Planning later this term leading into term 3.

Thank you to all families that have responded to the RYDA excursion through their emails. A reminder text message was sent to all families last week in regards to a response. This excursion will occur for all year 10 students on Thursday, Week 9 and will be a great day for all involved. If there are any concerns over the excursion, please get in contact with myself and have a chat.

Thank you to all families who attended our parent teacher meetings last Tuesday. It was great to see so many students involved in supporting the learning of their student and understanding how their student is progressing with their studies in each subject. If you missed out on an opportunity to discuss your students’ academics with their teachers, feel free to contact your students’ teachers for an update.

Looking ahead, we have an action-packed end to term 2 and whilst I am hoping to see the Year 10s getting involved in everything possible, I also want to see their focus on learning and achievement. Semester 1 results are of course very important for their subject choices in Senior School and the time for SET planning will be upon us before too long.

Year 9 Report

Staff at NDSHS offer a range of opportunities for students to get involved – from Interact Club and Student Council, gym, cattle show teams, basketball competitions to games clubs and chess competitions.  On any given school day, we have at least 5 different activities running at break times.  Students can find more information about these activities on the term 2 'Campus Life' calendar.   There will also be a number of additional opportunities to get the most out of school.  I encourage all year 9s to embrace these opportunities and create positive memories.

The cooler weather has returned and that usually means that some students appear with an array of jumpers, long shirts, and visible shirts underneath the uniform. I would like to remind parents that the uniform shop stocks school jumpers and jackets for the colder months. By ensuring students wear the school uniform, we are promoting:

  • A safe environment for learning by enabling ready identification of students and non-students at the school
  • Community values, expectations and perceptions of the school
  • A sense of personal pride in the school
  • The dress standards and requirements of a workplace

Please assist us in upholding and supporting the school uniform policy by ensuring your child arrives to school in the correct uniform. If a student requires a temporary item of school clothing it can be borrowed from student services located in T11.

Many thanks

Junior Secondary Campus Coordinator Report

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through Term 2! With routines now well established, it’s a great time to remind students about the importance of showing up each day, coming prepared, and giving their best effort. Attendance matters — every day at school is an opportunity to grow towards a meaningful life of choice, not chance.

I’ve been encouraging students to bring the right gear (a pencil, their books, and a laptop), stay organised, and keep trying — even when things get tricky. Building those habits now sets students up not just for success this term, but in the long run too.

We’ve had some fantastic moments recently that are worth celebrating. Our school cross-country was a real highlight — well done to everyone who got out there and gave it a go! Whether you were running for a place, walking with friends, or cheering from the sidelines, the energy and encouragement on the day were fantastic.

A big thank you also to the parents and carers who attended our recent parent–teacher interviews. It was great to connect and have those meaningful conversations about how your children are travelling. These partnerships really do make a difference.

As always, if there’s anything I can do to support your child during the rest of the term, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of Term 2 brings!
