On Friday 13th June we are hosting our annual Sleep Rough at our NDSHS Mimburi Campus as part of our Interact Club national fundraiser. The aim of this activity is for students to raise awareness and funds for homeless people in the community, and to gain insight into the difficulties that homeless people face every night.

By now everyone has returned their permission forms on schoolzine. If you haven’t, you’d better step on it and return the email asap.

Now it’s time to get your fundraising happening.

If you haven’t received, your fundraising form yet see Mr Weekes in T block at the Cooroy Campus and Mrs Elley in A block at the Pomona Campus.

You need to raise at least $30 to participate. But I’m sure if you tried really hard you could get double or triple that. Remember it for a good cause. Ask classmates, family, relatives, friends, local shop owners and even donate yourself!!!

There is still time so come along and join us.

Fundraising forms in by the Friday the 23rd of May and Sleep Rough is June of 13th-14th.

Calling All Bakers and Supporters – Help Fuel Our Musical Stars!

Calling_All_Bakers_and_Sweet_Treat_Supporters_1_.png

As our talented students prepare for this year’s school musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we’re seeking support from our wonderful school community to help keep their energy levels high during rehearsals and performances.

We would greatly appreciate donations of baked or purchased goods. Homemade treats that can be frozen, such as slices, muffins, patty cakes, and biscuits, are most welcome. If baking isn’t your thing, packaged biscuits and snacks are also greatly appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off any time from now until the first week back next term. All contributions will go a long way in supporting our students as they bring this magical production to life.

On behalf of the musical team, thank you for your generosity and ongoing support!

Year 10 and 11 Students Visit Queensland Holocaust Museum and Anzac Square Memorial

On Thursday, 15th May, Year 10 and Year 11 students from Noosa District State High School embarked on a meaningful excursion to Brisbane, where they visited the Queensland Holocaust Museum and the Anzac Square Memorial Museum.

The visit to the Holocaust Museum was both powerful and moving. Students had the rare opportunity to hear firsthand from Dr Peter Krause, a Holocaust survivor, who shared his family’s harrowing experiences under the Nazi regime. His testimony offered a deeply personal insight into one of history’s darkest periods and left a lasting impression on everyone present.

In the afternoon, the group explored the Anzac Square Memorial Museum, where they delved into Australia’s involvement in various conflicts. Passionate guides provided detailed explanations of the exhibits, and students also enjoyed the chance to interact with engaging digital displays, further enriching their understanding of Australia’s wartime history.

Throughout the day, the students conducted themselves with maturity, respect, and curiosity, proudly representing Noosa District State High School.

A heartfelt thank you goes to staff members Gail Johnson, Charley Robertson, and Wendy Martin for their support and organisation, and to local bus driver Vic Toonan for ensuring safe travels.

12 Aquatic Practices Excursion to Mooloolaba Fisheries

On Friday 16th May, the year 12 Aquatic Practices class visited the Mooloolaba fisheries as part of their studies on Commercial and Recreational Fishing Practices.

The students were spoken to by a Department of fisheries representative and the Shark Control Program Co-ordinator where students were provided with information on their roles and the equipment they use to help perform their daily tasks. Students also visited a number of local Seafood Co-ops where they were shown and spoken to about how they operate their businesses.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their day and the opportunity that local stakeholders provided for them to help support their learning at school.
