Captains' Comments

As we approach the halfway mark of term 2, it is time to reflect on the great achievements of our students so far this term, and look ahead towards the great opportunities still to come this year.

Firstly, a huge congratulations to all runners that earned a spot to compete at the North District Cross Country trials, on Friday of week 5. This gruelling track covers the hills and shrubs of the Mimburi campus and will provide a great challenge to all runners. We look forward to hearing about your success.

Furthermore, a massive shoutout to all year 9 and 10’s who competed in interschool sport in week 4 and 5. This competition is a great way for young athletes to show their skills and take priding in representing their school against fierce competition across the Sunshine Coast, and we are all very proud of your results.

Finally, our year 11 and 12 boys and girls represented the school in AFL in week 5 at the Queensland school AFL Gala Day. Playing 4 games each day on Tuesday and Wednesday, they took on schools from all over the coast.

On the academic front, as we reach week 5, our year 11’s approach their first exam block, only attending school between Tuesday and Friday to complete assessments. These exams signify the end of their first unit of senior schooling, and 15 weeks of hard work and dedication that will be carried on through their remaining year and a half at Noosa district.

As the nights begin to cool down, our annual fundraiser ‘Sleep Rough’ is just around the corner. On Friday, the 13th of June, students will spend a night sleeping under the stars at the Mimburi campus in order to experience the conditions endured by the many sleeping on the streets. This great cause raises awareness, as well as funds which are donated to BackPackBed.org, to provide sheltered living conditions to those less fortunate. Start fundraising today to contribute as much as possible to this great cause, can’t wait to see you all there.

On behalf of the student council, thank you for your continued enthusiasm, effort, and school spirit. It’s been inspiring to see so many of you step up, challenge yourselves, and support one another both on the field and in the classroom. Let’s carry this momentum into the rest of the term and continue striving for excellence.
