A Focus on Quality Teaching and Learning

As term 2 draws to a close, we reflect on a busy yet deeply rewarding few months at our Junior Secondary campus. Our learning walks and talks have shown us just how engaged our students are, working collaboratively with their peers and teachers, and embracing learning as an active, exciting journey.

At the Pomona campus, learning isn’t something that simply happens to you. It’s something you do. It’s about curiosity, creativity, and connection. When students ask questions, think critically, and have fun along the way, learning becomes not only more effective but more meaningful.

As we head into the final weeks of the term, assessment is front of mind for both students and staff. Our students are giving their best to complete their assessments, while our dedicated teachers are finalising Semester 1 reports, which will be emailed to families early in term 3. We encourage you to sit down with your child to reflect on their progress, celebrating strengths and setting goals for growth. With new timetables, assessment calendars, and unit outlines coming in Term 3, it’s a great time to support your child in finding a healthy balance between school, play, and other commitments.

Congratulations to the students who have been recognised at our assemblies throughout the past term. Your commitment to our FLYING philosophy and school values is what makes the Pomona campus such a special place to learn and grow.

At Pomona, we believe in stepping up, not standing by. School is a place to try new things, challenge yourself, and become a lifelong learner. As we wrap up Semester 1, we encourage every student to reflect on their journey so far and set personal goals for the rest of the year.

Our Year 8 students are preparing for their transition to the Cooroy campus, while our Year 7s are stepping into their roles as leaders of Junior Secondary. We’re proud of the growth we’ve seen and excited for what’s ahead.

Celebrating Community and Connection

This term has been full of vibrant transition activities, including our Junior Secondary Showcase, Year 6 Transition Day and our ongoing school tours and enrolment sessions. These events are a wonderful reminder of what makes Noosa District Junior Secondary at Pomona so unique, a warm and welcoming community where students, staff, and families come together to celebrate learning.

A big thank you to our staff and students for making the Showcase such a success. From engaging curriculum activities to outstanding performances, it was a true celebration of our school spirit. We also extend a warm welcome to our future families. Please ensure enrolment applications are completed and returned to the Pomona campus.
