Year 10 VPS Bronze Medallion Course

At the end of last term, the Year 10 Certificate II in Public Safety class completed a 3 day intensive course at the Alex Heads Surf Lifesaving Club with the intention of obtaining their Bronze Medallions. Students participated in a number of activities where they were required to demonstrate key surf lifesaving skills in order to achieve the required course competencies. The students did a fantastic job and all received their certificates and can now proudly say that they hold their Bronze Medallions! The Alex Heads Surf lifesaving staff commented on how well the group performed and were impressed with how they conducted themselves- well done to our year 10 VPS students!

Musical Update

The world of Willy Wonka is coming to life on the stage and during week 1 all of the phenomenal cast and crew spent a marathon 36 hours at musical camp.  Here we began adding all those final touches to this spectacular stage show.  Complete with a sleep over in the Performing Arts block, the whole cast and crew bonded through rehearsals, meals, hot milo, dancing, and a lot of laughter.

With only 3 weeks until our performances, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is shaping up to be the biggest and most magical musical that Noosa District SHS has ever presented to our community.  Tickets are selling fast and can be booked through TryBooking or at the door on the night.  You will not regret it with a show stopping set, skilled dancers, and a highly talented cast that will transport you into a world of pure imagination.

Year 11 Aquatic Practices Students Dive into Marine Careers and Boating Safety

Our Year 11 Aquatic Practices class recently had the opportunity to engage with industry professionals during a special visit from Maritime Safety Queensland and the Water Police. The session provided a valuable mix of practical demonstrations and career insights, all aimed at deepening students' understanding of both the marine industry and safe boating practices.

The visit included a live demonstration of emergency marine equipment. Students watched in as red and orange flares were ignited, giving them first-hand experience of how these vital distress signals work in real-life situations. The class also had the chance to inflate an inflatable lifejacket. These demonstrations were not only engaging but also reinforced the importance of preparation and safety when boating.

In addition to the hands-on learning, students had the chance to speak directly with Maritime Safety Queensland officers and Water Police about the wide range of career opportunities available in the marine industry. From law enforcement and maritime safety to environmental monitoring and vessel operations, students were encouraged to explore pathways that align with their interests and skills.

This visit was an invaluable extension of our aquatic curriculum, giving students practical exposure to the responsibilities and rewards of working on the water. A big thank you to Maritime Safety Queensland and the Water Police for their time, knowledge, and dedication to educating the next generation of safe and informed marine users.
