Captains' Comments

As we cross the halfway point of this school year, students are as busy as ever, working hard on school events alongside their studies.

At the end of last term our Athletics carnival went ahead, with students from all year levels dressing up and competing for their house. House colours were on full display and competition was fierce. It was great to see so many athletes competing and we eagerly await the results of the winning house. We can now look forward to the Districts athletic carnival where students will go to represent Noosa District against other schools.

In the first week back Noosa District celebrated NAIDOC week, recognising the culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. Indigenous leaders Laciee Wells and Billie Madden alongside other indigenous students attended Sunshine Beach SHS commemorative NAIDOC day to take part in cultural activities. A morning tea was also shared at school for future developments such as the yarning circle to be discussed.

Our Pomona Campus Japanese students are eagerly waiting for another study tour, commencing in week 3, where students travel all the way from Japan to stay and study with a buddy.

On the academic front, the workload is heating up as year 11 head towards another exam block in week 10, and the beginning of their unit 3 of schooling, while year 12 sets to complete their final full turn of school.

Finally, this years exciting musical Willy Wonka is only weeks away, with performers participating in a musical camp at the end of week 1 to ramp up their rehearsals. Students have been working hard behind the scenes—rehearsing lines, perfecting choreography, and bringing the magical world of Wonka’s chocolate factory to life. From colourful costumes to catchy musical numbers, this production promises to be a delightful and entertaining experience for all. Be sure to mark your calendars and come along to support the incredible talent and effort of everyone involved!

On behalf of the student council, we would like to welcome everyone back and wish you all the best for the term ahead.
