A Golden Success – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The curtain has closed on Noosa District State High School’s spectacular production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but the memories, magic, and friendships will last forever.

Over four incredible performances, our students transported packed audiences into the magical world of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. With more than 90 colourful Oompa Loompas, a talented ensemble from Years 5 to 12, and stunning sets and costumes, the show was nothing short of extraordinary.

Year 12 student Max Martin shone as the eccentric and charming Willy Wonka, while Year 8 student Keenan James brought heart and warmth to the role of Charlie Bucket. Both gave outstanding performances, supported by a dedicated cast and crew who poured countless hours into rehearsals, set construction, costumes, props, and technical effects.

Directors Louize Lyle and Sharon Harris expressed their pride and gratitude:

“This show was only possible because of the incredible support of our entire school community. From students and parents to teachers and support staff, every contribution—big or small—made a huge difference.”

We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who sewed costumes, painted sets, built props, supervised rehearsals, managed hair and makeup, cooked for camp, worked front of house, sold goodies, ran ticketing, or simply came along to cheer us on. Special thanks also go to the HPE staff for giving up their teaching space, our cleaning staff for keeping everything spotless, and Jamie and Travis for setting up and packing down over 700 chairs for each performance.

This production would not have reached the heights it did without the generosity of our local business community, whose donations, sponsorship, and time made all the difference. We gratefully acknowledge McDermott Aviation, Pomona True Value Hardware, Pomona Distillery, George Real Estate, Bendigo Bank Cooroy, Cooroy Auto Wreckers, Sunshine Mitre 10, Gelignite Jacks Cooroy, Tewantin Noosa RSL, Cooroy RSL, Bunnings Noosaville, Noosaville Officeworks, Busy At Work, Wimmers, Cooroy Hotel, Cooroy Lifeline, Page Furnishers, Fine Old and Funky, Your Local Lifestyle, and Magick Hair and Beauty.

Local MP Sandy Bolton summed it up beautifully in her post-show comments:

“WOW, WOW AND MEGA WOW!!! Noosa District SHS production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was absolutely phenomenal… BRAVO!!”

To our students—thank you for your dedication, talent, and teamwork. To our staff—thank you for your patience, time, and support. And to our parents, families, and community—thank you for being part of something truly magical.

This production was more than a school musical—it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit. We couldn’t be prouder.

Year 11 Marine Science Rocky Shore Visit

Students in marine science enjoyed a wet and windy excursion to Point Perry at Coolum Beach. The class were collecting data in relation to various organisms’ abundance, distribution, density and zoning in the intertidal area of the rocky shore. Whilst the weather and large wave swell were far from ideal, all students made the best of the conditions enjoying and completing their field work as part of their student experiment assignments for term 3.
