Dear Parents, students and community
It has been wonderful to celebrate our thriving school environment both in and out of the classroom as the term progresses. Our students are consistently demonstrating an outstanding commitment to our expectations of being respectful, responsible and active learners and this is contributing to our wonderful environment and continued school success that I am so proud of. It’s a great time to be part of Noosa High.
A Thriving Term of Learning and Achievement
As we approach the final weeks of the term, our vibrant school community continues to flourish both in and beyond the classroom. Our students consistently demonstrate what it means to be respectful, responsible, and active learners—values that are the foundation of our positive school culture and ongoing success.
Over the past few weeks, the determination, creativity, and persistence of our students have been on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Student Leadership - Looking Ahead to 2026
The selection process for our 2026 student leaders is now underway. Student leaders play a vital role in amplifying student voice, shaping school culture, and continuing the legacy of those who came before them.
I was incredibly impressed by the calibre of candidates during their interviews and speeches. Each student brought thoughtful insights and a clear vision for the future of our school. We are fortunate to have such a talented group of emerging leaders, and I am confident they will continue to build on the successes of this year.
Opti-MINDS Success
The Opti-MINDS Creative Sustainability Challenge empowers students to think critically, collaborate, and communicate creatively. We were proud to host the Sunshine Coast Regional Championships at our beautiful Junior Campus, continuing our strong tradition of involvement in this prestigious event.
Our Senior team won the regional championship and will represent us at the State Championships in October. Meanwhile, our Year 7 and 8 teams also achieved outstanding results, earning Honours and the Spirit of Opti-MINDS award. Congratulations to all our incredible students and the dedicated staff who supported them!
Flagship Programs- Pathways and Possibilities
At this year’s Careers and Pathways Expo, we proudly launched our 2026 Flagship Programs—innovative learning pathways designed to prepare students for diverse and dynamic futures. These programs build on the strong foundation of Junior Secondary and are supported by leading tertiary and industry partners.
Our six Flagship Programs include:
- Summit Academic Pathway
- Agriculture and Agribusiness
- Outdoor and Environmental Education
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Building and Construction
- Creative Industries
With subject selection now complete for our Year 8, 9, and 10 students, we look forward to seeing the exciting opportunities these pathways will unlock in the years ahead.
Class of 2025 - The Final Chapter Begins
Our Year 12 students are entering the final stretch of their school journey. From their first day in Prep to their Year 6 graduation, and their transition into high school at our Junior Campus, it’s been a remarkable 13-year journey.
As they prepare for their Year 12 Formal on Thursday, 16 September, we invite our entire community to join us on Tulip Street to celebrate this milestone. These students are a testament to the strength of our school community, and we thank everyone who has supported them along the way.
We know our seniors will finish strong, backed by the encouragement of staff, peers, and families who believe in their potential.
I trust you will enjoy reading the stories of success and celebration in this edition of our newsletter, and I hope you feel as proud of our students as I do. Their achievements are a reflection of the strength, support, and spirit of our entire school community.
Kind regards
Ms Wilmore
Principal

FLYING + Classes: Learning Beyond the Classroom
Every Thursday in Period 4, our students dive into their FLYING + classes. These are a unique Pomona initiative that blends the Australian Curriculum with real-world capabilities. These sessions are designed to stretch thinking, spark creativity, and build future-ready skills. Whether it's sustainability, innovation, leadership or wellbeing, our students are thriving in these dynamic learning environments. Hats off to our incredible teachers who make this magic happen every week.
Term 4 selections for FLYING + are just around the corner and we can’t wait to see our students pursue next.
Wellbeing First: The Berry Street Educational Model
At Pomona, we believe that wellbeing is the foundation of great learning. That’s why we’ve embraced the Berry Street Educational Model, which is a research-backed approach that equips students with tools for self-regulation, resilience, and positive relationships. Each morning begins with connection and care, and every lesson starts with a ‘Ready to Learn’ check-in. Students have personalised plans that help them thrive, and these are revisited weekly in our wellbeing lessons. It’s all part of our commitment to nurturing confident, capable learners.
Enrolments Now Open – Join the Pomona Family
We’re thrilled to welcome new families to our campus. Enrolments are open for Year 6 students transitioning into Year 7 in 2026. Thank you to those families of students in Year 4-6 who have joined us for school tours or enrolment meetings so far. If you haven’t submitted your enrolment pack yet, now’s the time — don’t miss out on key transition events and updates. Additionally, we’ve also had a wave of new enrolments in Years 7 and 8. Families are drawn to our stunning grounds, our inclusive culture, and the exciting opportunities we offer.
To our wonderful families, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we’re building a school where every student is seen, supported, and inspired to succeed. Wishing you all a safe, restful break. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another term of growth, connection, and discovery.
Kind regards,

Uniform Update – Mid Term 3
Uniform and school pride
At Noosa District State High School, we continue to take pride in the way our students present themselves. Our uniform reflects the high standards, unity, and respect that are central to our school culture.
We remind families that the formal uniform is to be worn every Monday, or on the first day of the school week, to set a strong and united tone for the days ahead. Please note that Week 1 of next term begins on a Tuesday due to the Monday public holiday. As such, formal uniform will be the expectation on Tuesday.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our uniform expectations and for helping us maintain a strong sense of pride and belonging across our school community.

Year 11 Report
Greetings Year 11s and families! It has been a super busy Term 3 for the class of 2026, but as we head towards Week 10, there is much to reflect on and be proud of.
Bullying No Way week, which was organised and driven by the Year 11 student leaders, was a resounding success. The Year 11s contributed by creating posters, cutting ribbons for ribbon day, painting placards, cutting out hands and writing messages of kindness to post on our Bullying No Way wall. The anti-bullying messages were inspiring to read, and the vibe throughout the week was one of kindness, support and inclusion. Thanks for volunteering your time to such a worthy cause.
Last Thursday, myself along with Ms Wilmore, Mr Banks and Ms Greenhalgh had the benefit of interviewing our prospective school leaders for 2026. Sitting down and hearing about the values our young people hold dear, and their visions for leadership in 2026 was nothing short of inspiring and we all finished the day energised and optimistic about the wonderful group of young people who will become our next School and Vice-Captains, Sports and Cultural Captains and Executive for both Interact and Student Council. The future is in great hands and we can’t wait to announce our 2026 leaders next term.
Looking ahead, our Year 11s will finish their term with an exam block in Week 10. This is a perfect rehearsal for external exams at the end of Year 12 and students are expected to be in full school uniform, with all necessary equipment and on time to their exam session in order to maximise the experience and get the best outcome for themselves. Students should consult the exam timetables emailed out and ensure that they have given themselves sufficient time to study and prepare thoroughly. We wish you all the best next week Class of 2026, and hope you’ll achieve the great results you deserve!
Have a wonderful September break and we’ll see you back here for the final term of the 2025 school year!

Year 9 Report
Hello everyone,
As we enter the final weeks of Term 3, it is important to check your student's diary and assessment planner to keep up to date with their assessment requirements. Meeting deadlines is an important aspect of real life and it is valuable for our students to be able to manage their time efficiently. If you want to find out more details about assessment items, please email your child's teacher directly.
A big thank you to all the Year 9 students and their teachers for their efforts in dealing with the inconveniences that flu season has thrown up this term. It is rewarding to see the students' resilience in the face of difficulties, their effort in schoolwork, and their ongoing support for one another within the school community. Their ability to adapt and stay focused despite disruptions is a testament to their growing maturity and commitment.
As we approach Term 4, I encourage students to reflect on their progress so far and set clear goals for the remainder of the year. I hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday filled with laughter, good company, and well-deserved rest.
Many thanks.

Year 7 & 8 Report
It’s been wonderful to see Year 7 and 8 students travel through Term 3 with so much energy, creativity, and kindness.
In this busy term, one of the highlights has been Book Week which was a fantastic celebration of reading and imagination! From a glittering princess, to a pair of cheeky minions, to nearly the whole cast of Alice in Wonderland and so many other clever costumes, the effort students put into dressing up was fantastic.
Kindness has also been front and centre through days of awareness and action. On Bullying. No Way! Day, students stood up and pledged their commitment to building a safe, respectful school community. On Thursday it is R U OK? Day, an important reminder to look out for one another and to show kindness not just in big gestures, but in the everyday ways we check in with our friends and classmates.
Being the end of the term, assessment is underway, and I encourage all students to continue showing kindness to themselves too by turning up every day, trying their hardest, and taking pride in the effort they put in. Being consistent with attendance and having a go, even when the work feels challenging, builds habits that lead to success.
Thank you for your continued support. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at cfell0@eq.edu.au if I can support you or your child in any way.

As we reach the end of Term 3, there is still so many exciting opportunities to look forward to this year, as well as many outstanding achievements to be celebrated.
Week 10 highlights another significant milestone for Year 12, with students completing their mock exams during the start of the week, a crucial step in preparing for their external assessments later in the year. Additionally, the highly anticipated Year 12 Formal is taking place on Thursday. This special evening is a chance for students to come together, reflect on their final year of schooling, and enjoy a memorable night with their peers. We cant wait to see everyone dressed up for this celebration.
Meanwhile, Year 11 students will be undertaking their exam block, testing not only their knowledge but also their ability to manage study routines and exam conditions—skills that will serve them well as they move into their final year of schooling.
Furthermore, leadership applications are well underway for the process of selecting our 2026 school leaders, with candidates having completed interviews, and now practising their speeches to be delivered to their cohort.
Adding to the busy schedule, the Noosa Show Holiday will provide a well-timed break in Week 9, giving everyone a chance to recharge before the final stretch of the term.
Looking ahead to the holidays, students and staff heading off on the ski trip will have the opportunity to unwind and create lasting memories whilst trying to learn how to stay upright in the snow.
It’s certainly a busy finish, but one that promises both hard work and celebration as students round out another successful term.
On behalf of the student council, we wish everyone a safe and happy holidays, and best of luck to all students completing their assessments.

Year 12 Aquatic Practices
This term, our Year 12 Aquatic Practices students have been putting their skills to the test by designing and constructing their very own fishing rods as part of their assessment. The project has provided students the opportunity to explore the science and craft behind rod building — from selecting materials and assembling components, to understanding how design can affect performance on the water.
To put their creations into action, the class attended two fishing excursions at the Noosa River and Maroochy River. These trips gave students valuable hands-on experience in casting techniques, bait selection, and sustainable fishing practices, while also allowing them to trial the rods they built in real-world conditions.
The excursions not only provided an excellent chance for students to apply classroom learning in a practical setting, but also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and an appreciation of our local waterways.
Well done to all our Year 12 Aquatic Practices students for their effort and enthusiasm throughout the term. The skills and experiences gained will no doubt stay with them well beyond the classroom.
Mr Tierney

Year 9 History Students Explore World War One Through Memorial Box
Our Year 9 History students recently had the unique opportunity to engage with a Memorial Box sent from the Australian War Memorial to support their studies of World War One. The box was filled with fascinating artefacts, including a nurse’s cape, a slouch hat, an emu plume and postcards, providing students with hands-on access to both primary and secondary sources.
Included in the box was a two-up spinner, and Mrs Young explained the significance of the game to the ANZAC legacy.
Students said the experience helped history come alive for them. “It felt incredible to hold a piece of history in my hands,” one student shared. Another reflected, “Seeing the postcards made me think about the families waiting at home and what soldiers went through.”
This memorable activity gave students a deeper connection to the people, stories and sacrifices that shaped Australia’s history during the war.
